Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.
Someday I want to connect my Smartphone to LAN/internet via my laptop.
Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS running on my laptop and connected to Smartfren broadband modem (ppp0) or sometimes LAN cable. But how to connect my smartphone to inside the network?
Step one, create Wi-Fi connection via network manager. Click Create New Wi-Fi Network… and then fill in the Network name, choose WPA & WPA2 Personal for Wi-Fi security and fill in the Password.
It is autoconnect by default.
But no detection hostspot that I created before (WiFiNingrat) on my smartphone.
Step two, edit mode from any (Infrastructure/adhoc) to ap. Open terminal that login as root and edit system-connection in the /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections directory and save the changes. In this case, by default mode=adhoc and I changed to mode=ap.
Step three, reconnect the Wi-Fi by clicking Connect to Hidden Wi-Fi Network… at the network manager icon and choose the Connection that I created before.
Now check the hotspot availibility on the smartphone, It should be detected on my smartphone.
Finally, I can connect the hotspot. Alhamdulillah.
Wassalamu’alaikum 🙂
